The CBD Cook Drinks Turmeric Latte

CBD Golden Milk Goodness

With so many of us staying at home in this extraordinary time we thought it would be lovely to share how easy it is to use CBD in your cooking.

CBD has undoubtedly become an immensely popular food supplement with users reportedly enjoying many benefits. Those of us that use CBD Oil regularly mainly take CBD sublingually (under the tongue before swallowing) but CBD can also be ingested (taking a CBD capsule for example) and what better way than in food and drink.

  • Adding CBD to food is a super easy and healthy way to introduce CBD into your diet.
  • Ingesting CBD takes longer to take effect than taking sublingually but lasts longer in the system.
  • It's a great way to disguise the taste too!

One of our favourite night time treats is a CBD Turmeric Latte and the kids love it! It settles them down for the night and brings them all the known goodness of Turmeric, Ginger and CBD.

Step 1: Gather & Prepare Ingredients-Basic Recipe

  • Cup of your favourite milk (we love oat milk as it also helps calm the system for sleep)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • a pinch of ground pepper
  • some grated ginger
  • Sweetener to taste (we love Date Syrup)
  • Your regular dose of CBD

If you have fresh turmeric you can use that instead of the ground turmeric. Just peel and slice half an inch to an inch of turmeric root and add to your milk of choice.

If you have the time and inclination then gather a few cardamon pods and split to remove the small black seeds inside. It's these that have all that amazing flavour and goodness. Gently roast them in a non stick frying pan for a few minutes and then add to a pestle and mortor and grind with the other dry spices.

Some of the spices you can use for this recipe.

Fresh and ground turmeric.

Step 2: Variations

You can have such fun playing around with this basic recipe. Here are some of our favourites:

  • 1/2 teaspoon cacao powder (soooo good!)
  • a pinch of nutmeg
  • star anise
  • 1/2 teaspoon coconut oil
  • flavoured honeys such as elderberry fruit honey

Infuse berries in honey or add dried fruit powder into the honey. Totally delicious and loaded with Vit C.

Organic cacao is full of anti-oxidants and flavonoids, isoflavones, and alkaloids amonst others.

Add a whole pod with seeds to your milk of choice and allow to infuse whilst the milk heats.

Step 3: Bringing it all together

Place the milk in a small pan and heat slowly and gently to avoid burning.

Add the turmeric, cardamom, cinnamon, ginger and pepper and whisk until the milk is steaming but not boiling as we want to retain any heat sensitive components.

Remove from the heat and whisk in your CBD of choice and add your choice of sweetener to taste.

So easy and so good!

Sit back, inhale, sip and enjoy!
